EAB Compliance alternative for small businesses that mostly use AI tools

Short answer: EAB Compliance is an EU AI Act governance platform built around a decision record that can be reconstructed later: AI system registry, screening and risk classification, obligation matrix, evidence readiness, approvals and re-screening when legal sources change. Its pricing page (checked 24 Oct 2026) shows SmallBiz at €29 a month (1 named user, up to 5 registered AI systems, registry, screening and a standard decision and audit record), Professional at €159 a month (up to 10 users and 50 AI systems, role-based approval workflow, AI literacy evidence) and Enterprise from €599 a month, all billed monthly, with accounts activated within one business day. Its German sign-up page for SmallBiz says “zzgl. MwSt. · monatlich kündbar” and “Unbegrenzte KI-Systeme”, which differs from the 5-system limit on the English pricing page, so ask EAB which applies. EURO AI Register is free for up to 10 AI systems in your browser, with no account, or $19 a month for unlimited. If you need team approvals, re-screening and an audit trail, EAB is the stronger choice.
The pain this page is about
“We use ChatGPT, a chatbot on the website and AI inside our accounting software. Someone said we need an AI register. Do we need a governance platform for that?” A small deployer's first job is a list of its AI systems and a record of the AI-literacy measures it took. Firms with several AI owners and an auditor asking questions need more.
Why this matters now (official dates)
- Article 4 AI literacy has applied since 2 February 2025 to providers and deployers, whatever the risk level. As replaced by Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, it asks organisations to take measures to support the AI literacy of their staff; it does not require them to guarantee a specific level for any individual. The European Commission's Q&A says there is no need for a certificate: an internal record of trainings or guidance is enough, and national authorities supervise and enforce from August 2026 (Commission AI literacy Q&A).
- Article 50 transparency duties (for example, telling people they are talking to a chatbot) apply from 2 August 2026 (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689).
- High-risk rules were moved by the Digital Omnibus on AI, Regulation (EU) 2026/1744: Annex III uses (such as recruitment and credit scoring) from 2 December 2027, and AI in regulated products (Annex I) from 2 August 2028.

How many AI systems does EAB SmallBiz include?
The English pricing page says up to 5 registered AI systems for 1 named user. The German SmallBiz sign-up page we checked the same day says “Unbegrenzte KI-Systeme” (unlimited AI systems). Ask EAB which applies before you buy.
Is EURO AI Register a replacement for a governance platform?
Not for organisations that need approvals, multiple users or auditor access. It is a single-user record-keeping aid: an AI inventory, an Article 4 literacy record and dated notes.
Does any tool make my business compliant?
No. Even EAB's own FAQ says no software can do that for you. Tools help you keep records; for banned or high-risk uses, get a qualified lawyer.
When do the EU AI Act high-risk rules apply?
After Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, Annex III high-risk rules apply from 2 December 2027 and AI in regulated products (Annex I) from 2 August 2028. Article 4 AI literacy has applied since 2 February 2025.
