NIS2 in Ireland: status of the National Cyber Security Bill (Oct 2026)

Ireland missed the NIS2 transposition deadline of 17 Oct 2024. The European Commission referred Ireland to the CJEU on 8 Jul 2026 (nisd2.eu; Law Society Gazette). On 6–7 Oct 2026 the Minister said drafting of the National Cyber Security Bill is at a very advanced stage, with transposition notification hoped for by end-2026 (Dáil PQ). NIS1 (S.I. 360/2018) still applies. NCSC offers an "Am I in Scope?" tool (ncsc.gov.ie/nis2). What to do: check scope, prepare 24h/72h/1-month incident reporting, and list your AI and IT suppliers.
