Indonesia PDP Law: GR 33/2026 applies from 16 January 2027
Indonesia's implementing regulation for the PDP Law is out. You have until about 16 Jan 2027.
What you need to know
- PDP Law (Law 27/2022) has applied fully since 17 Oct 2024.
- GR 33/2026 was promulgated 16 Jul 2026 and takes effect six months later (about 16 Jan 2027).
- It covers records of processing, DPIAs, DPOs, breach response, cross-border transfers and sanctions.
- The PDP supervisory institution still has to be formally set up; watch for its rules.
