What to double-check before you send
- Child's name spelling in Telugu and English
- Muhurtham date, day and year (no “year mistake”)
- Venue pin-code and landmark for out-of-town guests
- RSVP phone number that someone answers
- Whether elders want a gotra / family-deity line included
Typing Telugu on a phone

Wording varies by family tradition and region (Coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema, Telangana). Treat these as starting lines; elders may prefer a different deity line or seating note.
Frequently asked questions
What does Upanayanam mean on an invitation?
It is the sacred-thread ceremony for the vatu (the boy receiving the upanayana). The invitation asks guests to attend and bless the family.
What must every Upanayanam invite include?
At minimum: who is inviting, the vatu's name, muhurtham (date and time), venue, and a request to attend. Many families also name the family deity.
How do I type these lines on WhatsApp?
Add a Telugu keyboard (Gboard transliteration or iPhone Telugu) and paste or type the lines. Proofread names and the year before sending.
Can I mix Telugu and English on one card?
