TG-RERA agent registration in Hyderabad: do brokers, listing sites and property expos need it?
Short answer: TG-RERA's FAQ (dated 7 July 2023) says that anyone who facilitates the sale or purchase of a plot, apartment or building in a registered project in a planning area needs agent registration under section 9. That includes listing websites, newspapers and property exhibitions if they facilitate those sales (FAQ Q29). Your ad copy doesn't need TG-RERA's approval, but no project may be advertised until the promoter has registered it under section 3 (Q30).
What TG-RERA's FAQ says about agents
- Listing sites, newspapers, expos (Q29): registration is needed if they intend to facilitate, or act for anyone to facilitate, the sale or purchase of a plot, apartment or building in a registered project being sold by the promoter in any planning area (section 9).
- Your ads (Q30): agents advertising for a builder don't need prior approval of print, radio, TV or other promotions, but no ad may go out before the project is registered with TG-RERA under section 3. Don't advertise services you don't intend to offer.
- False information from the builder (Q28): under section 12 the promoter is responsible for the truth of the ad and prospectus. The agent is liable if the agent makes a false or misleading representation about the agent's own services.
- Signing (Q32): an agent is not authorised to sign on behalf of the promoter or builder.
- Public record: the FAQ says that under section 34 TG-RERA's website must show details of registered agents, with photographs, and of agents whose registration has been revoked.
Hyderabad broker's 5-point check
- You hold your own TG-RERA agent registration before you facilitate any sale in a registered project.
- If you run a listing page, WhatsApp group business or expo stall that facilitates sales, you've checked whether Q29 applies to you.
- Every project you promote shows as registered on rera.telangana.gov.in. No pre-launch ads for unregistered projects.
- Each creative has the top-right box with the permit number, the TG-RERA registration number and the website. See our TG-RERA ad box guide.
- You never sign sale documents for the builder (Q32).
What we didn't find in TG-RERA's FAQ: the validity period and fees for agent registration. Check these on rera.telangana.gov.in before you apply. (For comparison only, AP-RERA says agent registration there is valid up to five years; see our AP-RERA agent guide. Don't assume Telangana is the same.)
Buying in Hyderabad? Ask the broker for their TG-RERA agent registration number and look for it on rera.telangana.gov.in (to verify: the exact search screen). For land records, see our Bhu Bharati guide.
