FMB sketch or LP map (LPM) in Andhra Pradesh: check plot boundaries after the resurvey before buying land

Official pages read on 23 Oct 2026 · Not legal advice · Government websites change, so re-check before you rely on a step.

Short answer: in Andhra Pradesh the old field map is the FMB (Field Measurement Book) sketch of a survey number. In villages that have been re-surveyed, the parcel now has an LP number / Land Parcel Map (LPM): NIC AP says the state "is undertaking a state-wide resurvey of all land parcels, assigning each a Unique Land Parcel Number (LPM)", and "once verified, these LPMs are integrated into WEBLAND". Meebhoomi, the official land-records portal, is titled "Adangal, 1B, Survey Number & LP Map". Before paying, find out whether the village is re-surveyed, get the LPM (or the FMB if it is not), match the extent with the 1-B and the deed schedule, and have a licensed surveyor walk the boundary.

Old FMB or new LPM? What official NIC AP material says

ItemWhat the official source saysWhat a buyer should do
Resurvey and LPM"state-wide resurvey of all land parcels, assigning each a Unique Land Parcel Number (LPM)"; LPMs go into Webland after verification.Ask the seller for the LP number, not only the old survey number.
What an LPM holds"LPM (Land Parcel Mapping): Defines boundaries, ownership, and geographic attributes of land parcels to improve land administration, reduce disputes".Compare the LPM boundary and owner with the 1-B and the deed.
ULPIN"A geo-referenced ID based on cadastral maps"; Bhunaksha "enables generation of ULPINs, land parcel maps, and online subdivisions post-resurvey".Write the ULPIN and LP number into the sale deed schedule if your lawyer agrees.
Coverage (as of the NIC AP deck dated 26-08-2025)17,599 villages in total; ULPIN/LPM generated in 6,942 villages; 1,17,75,806 LPMs generated. Many villages were not yet re-surveyed then. For those, the FMB sketch and old survey number still matter (current status to verify).
Sub-divisionThe deck lists "Online Sub Division of LPM (Urban, Rural, Government, Freehold Lands)" and "Digital Signed LPM".Buying part of a parcel? Ask for the sub-divided LPM before registration, not a hand sketch.
After registration"auto-mutation has been introduced"; "upon completion of land registration, mutation is triggered instantly".A wrong LP number in the deed can flow straight into the record, so check it before signing.

Seven boundary checks before you pay for land in Andhra Pradesh

  1. Re-surveyed or not? Ask the village secretariat or the seller whether the village has LPMs. If yes, work from the LP number; if not, from the survey number and its FMB.
  2. Get the map: Meebhoomi's title lists "LP Map". Download the LP map or FMB for the exact number (menu path and login: to verify) and save it with the date.
  3. Match extents: the LPM/FMB extent, the 1-B / Adangal entry and the deed schedule must agree. A mismatch is the owner's job to correct; Meebhoomi lists "Mutation for Correction" among revenue services through village and ward secretariats.
  4. Match the old and new numbers: after resurvey one old survey number can become several LP numbers (or the reverse). Ask your lawyer to tie the old number in the parent deeds to the new LP number in the draft deed.
  5. Look at the neighbours: the four boundaries written in the deed should match the adjoining LP numbers, roads and water bodies on the map. Near a tank, also run the FTL / buffer check.
  6. Part of a parcel? Insist on a sub-divided LPM in the seller's name before registration. Registration triggers auto-mutation, so the record follows whatever the deed says.
  7. Walk it with a licensed surveyor, mark the corners on the ground against the map, and write the agreed boundaries into the agreement and the deed.

Common mistake: relying on the old FMB and parent-document survey number in a village that has already been re-surveyed. The resurvey may have changed the extent or split the parcel, and the deed then describes land that no longer matches the record. Ask for the current LPM first.

To verify: the fee and process for an official FMB or LPM copy (Tahsildar office, village secretariat or MeeSeva), and how to apply if your LPM extent looks wrong after resurvey. We did not read an official page on resurvey grievances on 23 Oct 2026.
