Release deed (relinquishment deed) in Andhra Pradesh (Vizag, Vijayawada): stamp duty and registration fee

Official documents read 14 to 20 Oct 2026 · Not legal advice · Government websites change, so re-check before you rely on a step.

Short answer: In Andhra Pradesh, the stamp duty schedule (Article 46 A) charges a release deed (relinquishment of a share) at 3% of the consideration or the market value of the share given up, whichever is higher. The registration fee is 0.5%, minimum Rs 1,000, maximum Rs 10,000 (fee table, Category 1, row 7). The IGRS home table has no general release row, so user charges and any family-member concession are to verify with the IGRS calculator or the Sub-Registrar.

Read from the AP stamp duty schedule PDF (Schedule I-A, Article 46) and the registration fee table PDF (G.O.Ms.No.463 of 2013), saved by us from registration.ap.gov.in on 15 Oct 2026. IGRS duty and fee table re-read live on 20 Oct 2026: its only release rows are row 49 (right of redemption) and row 50 (title deeds). Any later change is to verify at the office.

What the official papers say

How it adds up

Example only, not a quote: duty and fee from the rows above; user charges, stamp vendor or e-stamp charges, and any concession are extra or to verify.

Release or partition?

For family members, the AP Stamp Duty FAQ (Q22) works a partition at 1% on the separated shares with a Rs 1,000 fee (see our AP partition and settlement guide), while the schedule rate for a release is 3%. Which instrument fits your family is a legal question, and the office may apply a concession we haven't seen, so run both through the IGRS Duty Fee Calculator and ask the Sub-Registrar before you buy stamp paper (to verify).

Whether a release, a partition, a settlement or a sale suits your family, and how it affects tax or inheritance, are questions for your own lawyer and tax adviser. This page only lists the published fee and duty rows and what the department's own FAQs say. Not legal advice.
